Well done to everyone who ran at Mansfield on Saturday to produce both the biggest ever turn out of clubs teams including at least one team in every race and our most successful. Congratulations to our nine medallists in the girls under 13 and 15 races, Annie, Ellie, Naomi, Tola, Morgan, Amy, Lia, Yasmin and Sophie and special congratulations to Yasmin for the fastest leg of the Under 15 relay. This week we have round 3 of the Kent league at Sparrows Den (details attached) which is also our club championships on Saturday 12th November, those still chasing Kent selection for the southern inter-counties match need to compete to improve their chances. A number of the club's athletes take part in the Regional Finals of the English Schools Cup at either Tonbridge or St Albans on the same day.
The following week is the London Youth Games at Parliament when athletes represent their borough and Bromley begin their defence of the overall Youth Games title. Details available from Jay Galley (Bromley team manager) or your local borough team manager. The club's athletes will be representing Bromley, Westminster, Wandsworth, Kensington & Chelsea, City of London, Croydon, Camden, Barnet and Lewisham.
Kent Cross Country League 3 – Sparrows Den, West Wickham BR4 9BB on Saturday 12thNovember
The third Kent League cross-country fixture of the season takes place at Sparrows Den, West Wickham Saturday 12th November.
The timetable is as follows:
12:00 Under 13 Girls 2500m
12:20 Under 13 Boys 3000m
12:40 Under 15 Girls 3000m
13:00 Under 15 Boys 4000m
13.20 Under 17 Women & Under 20 Women 3500m
13.40 Under 17 Men & Under 20 Men 5000m
14.30 Senior & Veteran Men 9800m
Those who want to walk the course should meet at the club tent at 10.45
These races incorporate the Blackheath & Bromley Young Athletes Club Championships so the first three club athletes in each race will receive a club medal.
This race is the final one of the three that Kent will use to select a team for the Southern Inter-Counties at Oxford on 10th December. Check the Kent County Athletics Website www.kcaa.org.uk for more information and explanation of the selection process. If you wish to be considered for Kent selection you should make every effort to race if you have not already gained automatic selection.
The course is our home course and is situated off Corkscrew Hill in West Wickham. There is limited car parking in the three small car parks which surround Sparrows Den, otherwise you can park in the surrounding streets.
The next fixture is the London Youth Games at Parliament Hill on Saturday 19thNovember when athletes represent their borough. Teams have been picked by the boroughs and whilst most club athletes represent Bromley Borough, there are club athletes in at least six other Borough teams as well. The Bromley team manager is Jay Galley to whom any queries should be addressed.
The next club fixture is the fourth Kent League at Danson Park, Bexleyheath on Saturday 26th November. This is the final fixture for all age-groups except seniors.
